Close friends for several years now, Laurence and Kimberly met in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2009. They inspire, support and challenge each other to grow and deepen their practice of life. As teachers they care deeply about their students and humbly share from their own experience.
Laurence GilliotGrowing up in a bilingual family in multi-cultural Belgium, Laurence learned from a young age how to bring people from different backgrounds together and let them connect as human beings. Soon after she completed her Master’s degree in Business, Laurence chose to follow a path of adventure and service to others. For 5 years, her work in an international non-profit organisation allowed her to facilitate deep community conversations in remote villages in DR-Congo to slums in the Philippines to violent neighborhoods in Papua New Guinea.
Along the way, Laurence started to practice yoga, which had a profound impact on her life. She saw that she could greatly contribute to this world by transforming her own emotional luggage and by sharing her practice with others. With 6 years dedicated practice to yoga with a wide variety of styles and gifted teachers, Laurence now sees yoga as a journey home, reconnecting us to the deepest parts of ourselves, with our breath, humour and self-love as travel companions. Her classes are inspired by Anusara, Vinyasa, Restorative yoga, Yin yoga and Ayurveda. |
Meditation in motion has been a common denominator in Laurence's life. Besides the practice of yoga, she completed a 5-month walking meditation in the Himalayas, facilitates the dance of Compassionate Communication and is a certified facilitator of Dance Mandala, an ecstatic dance expression, where participants listen and follow the body's intuitive wisdom.
Since 2006, Laurence has studied Buddhist mindfulness meditation on several retreats with Zen-master Thich Nhat Hanh and she co-facilitates a weekly meditation group in Chiang Mai. She combines this Eastern practice of Buddhist psychology with the Western practice of Non-Violent Communication to coach both individuals and groups towards more fulfilled and joyful lives.
She facilitates transformational retreats in Asia and Europe, co-founded Pranaya and teaches on Jivani Yoga Teacher Trainings.

At a very young age Kimberly was introduced to the power of community, growing up with an extended family network on a farm in Southwestern, Ontario, Canada. From those early years rooted in supportive self-discovery, Kimberly explored and discovered her creative nature and need for expression through the arts of movement, painting and overall connection with others. Completing a Bachelors degree in Visual Arts and Communication Studies, followed by a degree in Education, Kimberly continued to share her love of the arts through the path of teaching.
Discovering yoga provided an entirely new language and form of expression that Kimberly weaved into her daily life with her students and colleagues. After four years of teaching in the classroom in Canada, Kimberly's desire to travel brought her to Chiang Mai, Thailand where teaching in the classroom continued, and extended its wings to the yoga mat. Having learned over the past ten years from an extensive list of gifted teachers from many different backgrounds, Kimberly approaches teaching yoga as a method to invoke balance by empowering people to take their health and life in all of its forms into their own hands.
Kimberly is a continuing student and educator of the sacred science of Ayurveda, having studied extensively with Balaram Chandra Das, a visionary in the modern approach of Ayurveda. She also studied through The American Institute of Vedic Studies under Dr. David Frawley. As an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant she helps her clients discover their own wealth of self-knowledge through both lifestyle regimen and the yoga practice.
Kimberly lives in Montpellier, France where she balances her service to the world of Yoga and Ayurveda with the blessed endeavor of being a mother and partner to her two year old son and her husband. Kimberly facilitates retreats in Canada, France and Thailand, and is quite pleased to add Spain to this year's manifestations!
